Don’t you get sick of looking for a good flashlight? I mean one you can afford… that doesn’t stop working after a couple weeks? What if it does stop working? Where do you turn? I was tired of looking for answers to these questions. And so began a journey… Sol-Tac.

I am an electrician by trade. By 2003, I was a Master Electrician and state Electrical Contractor in 7 states including Alabama. Fast forward several years and I added state licensed HVAC contractor, Journeyman Plumber and Gas Fitter to my resume and yet I was still on the search for a decent, affordable flashlight that just works. I was failing with flashlights and this little mystery box that takes batteries just would not cooperate when it should.

Just two batteries, some wire, and a bulb. How many times has a flashlight let you down? I even tried the expensive brands... All of them. Some companies would fix their lights under warranty.. till they didn’t. There was always some reason why it wasn’t their fault. People don’t call me when their lights are working great, so I depend on a flashlight as an important tool. A tool I rely on daily. It will roll around in my tool bag, it will get dropped, it might even get wet. Was I asking too much?

I thought I could do better, but I wasn’t sure how to get started. Like every journey, it just took some determination and a ton of failures. I started this process on a journey; a journey to find that perfect beam. You cannot imagine how many combinations there are of drivers, reflectors and LEDs. It was all so overwhelming. I had a huge task at hand.
